    Job overview:  

    • Reports to the Greens Committee Chairperson and Board of Directors.
    • The Golf Course and Grounds Superintendent is responsible for all operations related to the golf course, grounds and all equipment needed to deliver excellence. 
    • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: turfgrass management, staff management, equipment management, golf course maintenance operations, budget forecasting and expenditures, proper water management, proper pesticide applications which include recording & compliance with state and local regulations, direct communications with the Golf Professional and Green’s Chairperson about course operations.

    Superintendents Responsibilities:

    • Maintain the golf course and its playability to the satisfaction of the Club’s Board of Directors, Green Committee & membership.
    • Have the vision and drive for the golf course’s continued improvement, development and conditioning, while maintaining today’s high standards of playability.
    • Administer and enforce all club rules, regulations and personnel policies.
    • Recruit, supervise & coordinate the scheduling of the golf course staff including hiring, training, evaluating and disposition of employees.
    • Oversee the maintenance, scheduling and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment.
    • Responsible for inventory & cost control for maintaining the golf course.
    • Develop annual budget & plans for the maintenance and capital improvement projects.
    • Provide recommendations for improvements & capital equipment expenditures for the golf course, those of which will continue the growth & development of the club.
    • Work closely with the Board of Directors & Greens Committee to operate the golf course in a fiscally responsible & professional manner.
    • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.
    • Have computer skills necessary to manage the course and to communicate with membership.
    • Design landscape plans for facility grounds & is able to implement the plans.

    Requirements:

    • Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and pesticide application certificate.
    • Knowledge of managing high-end quality playing conditions in transition zone.
    • Knowledge of use and operating of all standard golf course equipment.
    • Pass a drug and background check
    • Knowledge of safe use, mixing & application of chemicals and commercial products.
    • Knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf and be a golfer.
    • Knowledge of proper irrigation system controls, maintenance and installation.
    • Knowledge of small on-course construction planning, budgeting and implementation.
    • High level of dedication to the golf course conditions and course improvements.
    • Ability to  effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically with the Board of directors and members.

    Shaker Run Golf Club is a public golf facility located in Lebanon Ohio. The position of Mechanic plays an important role in the growth and sustainability of the club. The Mechanic reports directly to the superintendent but is responsible to work closely with the assistant superintendent. The Mechanic is responsible for all golf course equipment including golf cart fleet. Duties also include periodic maintenance of buildings and amenities throughout the Shaker Run grounds. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preventive maintenance practices, repair of failing equipment and maintaining up to date records.

    Dayton Country Club is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to add to it’s full time staff as an irrigation technician. DCC is an 18 hole Donald Ross facility nestled within the rolling hills of Oakwood, Ohio just south of Dayton. The property sits in approximately 90 acres and the club was established in 1897. DCC provides a rich history and tradition for it’s members and includes amenities such as tennis, platform tennis, pool, fitness, fine dining, and other social events.

    The candidate should have an exemplary work ethic and be able to manager his/or her time efficiently. The irrigation system at DCC is a combination Toro hydraulic/Rainbird electric with a Rainbird Cirrus central control. The candidate will be required to make irrigation repairs, additions, and alterations along with daily checks of the system for quality control. This position will also require the individual to perform other general golf course tasks. The candidate will also need to pass a drug screen and complete a background check.

    This is a full time position and includes the following benefits:

    NCR Country Club is actively looking to fill a 2nd Assistant Superintendent position for our turfgrass team. This position is designed to be hands on. We are looking for an individual that possess a mindset for attention to details, as well as the ambition to excel as a professional. The individual that fills this position will receive valuable work experience(s) and mentoring that will further compliment their agronomic base. Our turfgrass program actively promotes advancement from within, as well as preparing individuals for their future goals of becoming a superintendent.     Club History

    NCR Country Club was designed by the late Dick Wilson and opened for play in 1954. The Club has two distinctively different 18-hole courses, the North and the South. The North Course is a prairie-links style with a par of 70 and a total yardage of 6,828. The South Course a par 71 covering 7,048 yards of heavily-wooded and rolling countryside, has long been included in Golfweek “Top 100 Classic Courses”. The South Course has hosted four USGA national championships: 2013 Women’s State Team Championship, 2005 U.S. Senior Open, 1998 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 1986 U.S. Women’s Open, as well as the1969 PGA Championship. In the fall of 2013 the club resurfaced the South Course greens with T1/Alpha bentgrass sod. The club also worked with Hurdzan golf design in 2015 to create a 6 acre short game practice area as well as a full renovation of the South Course bunkers. In the fall of 2017, the club will begin an overseeding program of the South Course rough. The North Course offers a completely different dynamic in agronomics and growing environment.     Heatherwoode Golf Club is an upscale public golf facility located in Springboro, Ohio.  Springboro is a vibrant, affluent city located in southwest Ohio. Designed by Dennis Griffths, Heatherwoode has gone through numerous upgrades and improvements since opening in 1991. The golf course recently converted driving range tees from Bentgrass to Bermuda, added short game practice area, ongoing bunker and lake bank renovations.

    The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising a staff of up to 20 golf course maintenance employees. The Assistant Superintendent will work hand in hand with the golf course superintendent to insure the highest conditions possible.

    • Conducts preventative programs, identifies conditions conducive to establishing and propagating pest infestations and initiates corrective action. 
    • Performs preventative measures, such as soil poisoning, residual pesticides, and pre-emergence herbicide application. 
    • Checks for changes in pest activity to prevent population buildup. Selects pesticide treatments with maximum residual benefits consistent with environmental protection considerations. 
    • Operates and calibrates pesticide dispersal equipment for correct discharge rates, droplet size and discharge pattern. 
    • Maintains tools and equipment, evaluates equipment of performance and ease of maintenance, and recommends modifications or changes. 
    • Provides approved personal protective equipment, to include respirators, chemical resistant gloves and aprons, coveralls, and protective footwear and headgear, to personnel participating in pest management operations. Ensures equipment is worn and used properly.
    • Mixes, applies, transports, stores and disposes of pesticides in compliance with stringent instructions on EPA registered labels. 
    • Maintains pesticide storage and mixing areas in compliance with state and federal regulations; and ensures mixing areas are equipped with approved emergency shower, eye wash, and disposal and spill containment equipment.
    • Maintains security and ensures control of hazardous materials. Maintains complete and accurate records of pesticide use and applied preventive actions.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in pest management functions to include pesticide application and the the operation and maintenance of pesticide dispersal equipment. 
    • Knowledge of biological principles related to plant and animal classifying, life cycles, habitat, identifying and economic importance; principles used in surveying for, identifying, and controlling populations of plant and insect pests; integrated pest management controls; and Air Force, EPA, Ohio and USDA regulations and safety procedures and practices.     DUTIES:

    1. Troubleshoots and repairs the electrical and hydraulic controls of the automatic water system by: Testing, repairing or replacing motors, solenoids, microswitches, power springs and components of the automatic clocks. Making splices and repairing electrical wiring and hydraulic tubing, Following all manufacturers recommendations and all electrical codes. Using electrical testers and tools.

    2. Tests turfwater needs with moisture meters and updates/inputs computer central with data. Coordinates weather station data to eliminate wet and dry spots.

    3. Installs, tests and repairs 600 sprinkler heads, keeping them properly adjusted for optimum water utilization. Installs, tests and repairs approximately 15 miles of underground high pressure irrigation pipe from ½ inch to 8 inch. Also all valves risers, fountains and controls associated with the irrigation system on the Military Golf Course.

    4. Inspects, adjusts and maintains the pumping station and wells feeding the golf course system. Involves electronic panels, meters and panels and imputing data into computer central.

    5. Coordinates system blowdown and spring pressurization and assuring proper operation of the system at all times.

    6. Operates farm-type tractor with a variety of attachments (mowers, rollers, seeder, spreaders, etc.) which must be manipulated (setting depth of plow blades or heights of mower blades) as tractor is in use. Operates other golf course maintenance equipment, including pick-up trucks, dump truck, fork lift, and loader and scooters.

    7. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems and reports them to mechanic. Grinds and performs minor repair on mowers and related equipment.

    8. Selects and applies pesticides/chemicals to golf course turf, keeping in mind the safety of golfers.

    9. Passes on instructions to other works, gets work started and assigns tasks. Checks work in progress and reports to supervisor on any problems or on completions of assignments.

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Experience in the repair of electrical systems, preferably irrigation systems with electrical controls. 
    • Must have ability to trace and repair controls using test equipment and to read wiring diagrams. 
    • Must be able to operate farm type tractor, with attachments, and other various motor vehicles (pick-up truck, fork lifts, front end loader). 
    • Must possess a valid vehicle operators license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. 
    • Must be able to lift up to 90lbs.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Division of Golf is looking for energetic and motivated individuals to maintain golf course grounds and facilities for the enjoyment and safety of golfers. This is manual work in the performance of unskilled and limited skilled maintenance of a physically demanding nature.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Selected candidate will work at one of the three municipal golf courses (Kittyhawk, Madden or Community). Work of this class involves responsibility for performing work individually or as a member of a crew. Work is performed under close supervision. Varieties of tasks include, but not limited to: maintaining golf course grounds and facilities; changing cups, mowing grass on tees, greens and trim mowing around trees and sandtraps; filling and raking sandtraps; planting and caring for grass, shrubs, trees and other plants on the course; cleaning and caring for public areas; digging to repair irrigation lines; rakes and loads leaves, dirt and debris and prepares flower beds. All work is preformed without interfering with golf play and providing exceptional customer service.

    GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

    Must be available to work between the hours of 6am – 2:30pm on varied days, including some weekend and holiday hours. Typical season runs April through October. Full-time and part-time positions available.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
