POSITION: SPRAY & IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN
COURSE: COUNTRY CLUB OF THE NORTH
LOCATION: XENIA, OHIO

Supervisors' Titles: Golf Course Superintendent & Assistant Superintendent

BASIC FUNCTION(S):

  • SPRAY TECHNICIAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROPERLY MIXING AND APPLYING CHEMICALS TO THE GOLF COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, AND RESIDENTIAL LAWNS.
  • KEEP AN ORGANIZED FACILITY WITH ALL PPE IN PLACE.
  • SCOUT AND COMMUNICATE ANY TURF DISEASE/FERTILITY ISSUES THAT MAY OCCUR WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT.
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR IDENTIFYING AND PERFORMING IRRIGATION LEAK REPAIRS, ELECTRICAL REPAIRS AND REPAIRING CALIBRATION ISSUES.
  • PERFORMING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ON ALL ASPECTS OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM.
  • KEEPING DETAILED RECORDS OF ALL REPAIRS
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR SPRING CHARGE-UP AND WINTERIZATION

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • RESPONSIBLE FOR FILLING OUT AND FILING CHEMICAL APPLICATION RECORDS.
  • KEEP ALL MSDS RECORDS UP TO DATE.
  • ASSIST IN DAILY STAFF ASSIGNMENTS IN CONSULTATION WITH COURSE SUPERINTENDENT AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH WEEKLY SCHEDULES.
  • COORDINATES PESTICIDE AND FERTILIZER APPLICATIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH COURSE SUPERINTENDENT.
  • VERIFIES SPRAYER/SPREADER CALIBRATIONS AND REVIEWS REGULARLY AMOUNT OF MATERIAL APPLIED VERSUS AREA COVERED.
  • COMMUNICATES ON A DAILY BASIS COURSE CONDITIONS, RELATING PROBLEMS AND NEEDS TO COURSE SUPERINTENDENT OR APPROPIATE STAFF MEMBER FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.
  • ASSIST IN OVERALL STAFF SUPERVISION PROVIDING HANDS-ON DIRECTION TO STAFF REGUARDING ALL ASPECTS OF COURSE MANAGEMENT.
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING IN TRAINING OF NEW STAFF MEMBERS ENSURING THAT NEW STAFF IS MADE AWARE OF PROPER TECHNIQUES REGUARDING COURSE MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS.  ALSO ENSURES THAT NEW STAFF ARE COMPLETELY MADE AWARE OF OPERATING AND SAFETY PROCEDURES PRIOR TO OPERATING EQUIPMENT.
MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PREFERRED 2 OR 4 YEAR COLLEGE DEGREE IN TURF OR RELATED FIELD.
  • BASIC TURFGRASS MANAGEMENT TRAINING.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE GAME OF GOLF AND RULES WHICH GOVERN THE GAME.
  • DEMONSTRATED INTEREST IN CONTINUED EDUCATION AND DESIRE TO CONTINUALLY DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE.
  • POSSESSES OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN OHIO PESTICIDE LISCENSE.
  • EXCELLENT ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
  • ONE – THREE YEARS EXPERIENCE AS SPRAY AND IRRIGATION TECH OR OTHER PROGRESSING SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE WITHIN GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT

 COMPENSATION:

  • $18-$20/HR DOE
  • GOLF PRIVILEDGES
